Leila Farjami is a published poet, literary translator, and licensed psychotherapist. Born in Tehran, Iran, she immigrated to the U.S. at a young age during the Iran-Iraq war and settled in Southern California with her family.

In addition to publishing eight Persian poetry books and numerous translations of world literature into Persian, her work has appeared in Cathexis Northwest Press, Hey, I’m Alive, Midwest Quarterly, Nonconformist Magazine, Nimrod Journal, Pennsylvania English, Poetic Sun, Poetry Porch, Press Pause Press, RiverSedge: A Journal of Art and Literature, The Spotlong Review and Sun; was published by Tupelo Press for their 30/30 Project, and has been translated into Swedish, Arabic, Turkish, and French. ​She has translated a comprehensive volume of Sylvia Plath’s poetry into Persian.

Leila holds a Master's degree in clinical psychology and practices trauma-informed therapy at her private practice and The Camden Center, loves fiction, Japanese woodblock prints, jazz, art films, depth psychology, and world poetry.

She lives with her husband in Los Angeles.
